What better time than spring to take inventory of woodenware? Well, maybe late fall or winter, but since it’s spring and there is a lot of empty equipment in the bee barn, let’s say that spring is the best time to take inventory.
I don’t know about you, but I spent a good deal of April cleaning, sanding, painting, stacking, and re-stacking bee equipment. What a great feeling to get everything ready for the bee season.
Download a diagram of hive components to help manage your inventory, plan repairs, or put in orders for purchase. If you are expanding your apiary, you might need a few more boxes or bottom boards. Think about what equipment you might need for honey harvest or the dearth. Do you have enough entrance reducer to prevent robbing later this summer? Make a list now that you can refer to as the beekeeping season really gets going.
